Caldwell Celebrates 2,000 Days of Safety in its South East Distribution Center

Rochester, NY — March 20, 2012 — Caldwell Manufacturing Company recognized its Alachua, FL distribution center team members for reaching a major safety milestone, 2000 days without a lost time accident.

2000 days is a remarkable achievement in itself, but factor in that our facility in Alachua has NEVER had a lost time accident since it went into operations, is truly outstanding!!!

How remarkable is achieving 2000 days?

It’s more than 5 years without a lost time accident and almost 3 million minutes. Nearly unheard of in any industry.

According to the National Safety Council, nearly 50 workers are injured every minute of every work week, and 17 will die on the job every day.

This is why we focus on Safety First. The health and welfare of our employees is Priority One at Caldwell. "I feel no greater responsibility than to ensure the safety of our team. Everybody needs to work together to ensure we all go home in the same condition we came to work, says President and CEO Eric Mertz. “When we all focus of safety, the other aspects of the business will take care of themselves.”

Dave Miller, Director of Supply Chain agrees “By focusing on safety, employees are much more productive and motivated to work safely if they have a clean place to work. Here at Caldwell, we think safety every day and we communicate safety every day."

In recognition of this outstanding accomplishment, the employees at the Alachua plant received a certificate, gift cards and a celebratory luncheon. Pictured below are team members Debbie Jones, Wayne Sutton, and Karen Hopper.
